Recent Experience with the Election Commission (Mumbai)

My Recent Experience with the Election Commission Office (Mumbai)

Few years before, I did take my time out to visit the Election office & the first thing that I noticed while climbing the stairs were the Trademark PAN Stains which confirmed that one walked the path of a government office. Next were the conversations with the so called Babus who were least bothered about you & the bundled stock of election papers everywhere.

I am now writing this post on my recent experience with the Election Commission Office. My previous experience with the Election Commission people have always been frustrating. The Name & Address mentioned in the Electoral Roll are always messed up with even after filling up the forms for correction
I thought, Why not give it an another try to correct the entries, but this time I wanted to use their Online mode of submission & hence opted for it & the process for it is pretty simple.

This was my experience years back & now there hasn’t been many changes, but the change is far better than what it was.

  • Less Pan Stains.
  • Counters for different Form Submissions.
  • Computerized Counters for people who opted for “Online Submission” of their forms through the Election Commission Website.

Documents Required

1) Date of Birth Proof (Education Certificate/Birth Certificate)
2) Address Proof (Ration Card/ Electricity Bill/ Pan Card/ Driving License)

Note:  If any applicant submits only ration card as proof of address, it should be accompanied by one more proof of address out of the above categories as per Election Commission.

You need to upload the scanned copies of these documents online as well as carry the same original documents with you during the manual verification of documents.

FIRST STEP

·         You need to get yourself registered with their website.
·         Random password generated is then sent to your mobile number.
·         Login with it, Select the required Form for submission.

·         Enter all your details including your EPIC number (Election Photo Identity Card) & also upload a Scanned copy of your photo.
·         Scanned documents also need to be uploaded & most importantly the website only supports JPEG format & not PDF or other formats. So ensure that you have images of the document.
·         Save the form first & then recheck on the details entered & once everything proper press the submit button.
·         Take the print out of the application generated & check your details.

  SECOND STEP

·         Once you submit the form, The Election office then receives your copy & you are then allotted with a date to be present for manual verification of documents.
·         Submit the form & documents to the concerned person which hardly takes a minute.
·         A receipt is then provided after the form is submitted.

That’s all once your form is submitted, You can then check the status of your application from here.

COMPLAINTS & TRACKING
You also have an option to register your complaints with your assembly office. I had posted lot of complaints & the reply you receive is instant & through SMS.

NOTE : The Online mode of form submission is applicable for all states & cities.

Suggestion : It is your right & duty to vote & hence you should invest your time in making necessary changes to your voter's list. Go the Online way as it is hassle free & saves your precious time too.
